Festival season is once again upon us, and it’s time to start thinking about your own festival-going outfits. Whether you’re headed to Glastonbury or Reading, you’ll need eye-catching ensembles for all weather-related eventualities. Fortunately, there are four festival looks in particular that are set to take the festival scene by storm this year.

1. The tropical beach look

If you’re lucky enough to experience some warm weather during festival season, you’ll have the chance to stay cool whilst looking your very best.

A tropical beach ensemble should include some lightweight sandals, a pair of shorts (denim are perfect) and a bikini top. If you want to tone things down a little, opt for a cropped T-shirt. Try to make things as colourful as possible, which should help to bring out the fun side of your personality. This is a great opportunity to wear a flower in your hair, but a bandana works just as well. Playful, sexy and practical, the tropical beach look is going to be very popular this summer.

2. The playful punk look

Let’s face it: festival season is all about letting your hair down and having fun — and what better way to get started than by creating a fun and playful ensemble.

Sturdy boots and three-quarter length jeans is a great place to start. Follow this up with a white T-shirt and a checked shirt to really bring the punk out. This is a practical combination that can prepare you for every imaginable weather condition. Pale and dark colours should dominate your make-up choices. And don’t be afraid to be daring with your hairstyle… braided pigtails are absolutely perfect for this look.

3. The sophisticated country girl look

Many festivals will take place in the country this year, so it’s always good to dress for the occasion. Flat, floral shoes will set the tone for the rest of the look.

While a pair of skinny jeans will look great, you can also opt for flannel or maxi trousers. A loose-fitting vest (preferably white) will look good with just about any shirt or blouse you choose to wear over the top. Then it’s all about accessorising. Gold or silver watches, bracelets and discreet necklaces all work well with this look. Choose a natural hairstyle, and complete the look with a colourful headscarf.

4. The serious “It” girl look

If you want an air of sophistication about your look this festival season, this could be the one for you. Moderate heels with jeans should form the basis of your ensemble.

However, a cropped vest or a summer dress can work just as well. Florals should feature predominantly, including on your accessories. Chunky necklaces and bracelets work fantastically. Keep your make-up natural, but if you want to add a splash of colour, do it with your lips and eyes. You should stick with an updo for your hairstyle, but adding some braiding is a great way to turn up the sophistication level.

Looking your best at this year’s festivals could give you the confidence to meet new people. These four festival looks will all turn heads, and enhance your summer of fun.
