The Coachella Valley Festival is supposedly all about the music, art and various other activities. Year after year, the desert setting is temporarily transformed into a runway for the rich and famous.

As Coachella marks the start of the festival season, Lounge by Zalando brings you the latest fashion news. Yes, we have the lowdown: from who wore what, to who wore it well, to those who wore almost nothing at all!

Beyoncé never does anything half-heartedly and the same can certainly be said for her Coachella garments this year. This queen of pop splashed out  on her outfit, sporting Saint Laurent from head to toe. If we’re completely honest we fell crazy in love with her exquisite suede waistcoat and floral boho dress – and that’s before we take her accessories into account. Her attire might have been to die for but had a nice price to go with it!

Actress Kate Bosworth seems to always get it right. This year she flaunted her toned, tanned legs in a beautiful white Kempner mini. This classic number was teamed with a cute Etro patterned jacket and completed with a studded bag, Rayban aviators and tan ankle boots. Honestly, is there anything this woman can’t do?

Model Gigi Hadid kept her bright star shining off the runaway with her fringed suede collar which she wore over a crotched bralet and black denim shorts. Her accessories of choice were an Express necklace that she had the creativity to turn into a gypsy-style belt. She might only have just turned 20, but this A-list star certainly knows how to dress for an occasion. Kendall Jenner, a friend of the model,  also impressed in a pirate-inspired look consisting of a billowing beige monroe cropped top, golden belt and black high-waisted shorts.

Others at the festival sported a more daring look, turning heads with their edgy fashion statements. Jourdan Dunn, for example, was certainly one to turn heads – and not just because of her supermodel looks. The British beauty displayed her freshly coloured lilac locks which she contrasted beautifully with an elegant crocheted Alice McCall playsuit.

She finished the look with knee-high gladiator sandals, lots of clashing jewellery and oversized sunnies. Kanye West’s ex Amber Rose and festival-faithful girl band Haim rocked up in outfits that were also worthy of stealing the show. Sisters Este, Alana and Danielle Haim each had their own look but all rounded off their outfit with a pair of on-trend oversized sunglasses.

Certain A-list celebs, however, got so caught up in the festival fever that they turned heads for the wrong reasons. Katy Perry raised eyebrows with her mash-up outfits ranging from a golden bikini to patchwork dungarees and a puffy, vibrant bomber jacket. Forget the snog with rapper Drake - it was what she wore on stage that stole the show.

The singer went for 70's era, knee-high leather boots worn over black fishnet tights and an oversized T-shirt with the slogan "Big as Madonna". No one can deny how toned the 56-year-old looks but some things should really be left to the imagination. After this, Katy, you can be sure that we will be “thinking of you” for years to come…
