Styling creations from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s continue to inspire today’s fashionistas to choose styles which have been here before and are likely to keep on coming back for more. We would like to take you on a mini trip back through time in search of the hairstyles that regularly experience a revival.

Hair in the 60s

The 60s look clearly stands out for its opulent and very feminine beauty styles.

Fashion hallmarks of the time were wide hair bands and elaborate beehives, often worn in a half-up, half-down style. Flowing manes of hair and long ponytails created a frame for eyelashes, also worn long, and dark eye makeup. The beehive famously made its big comeback in 2006 when people such as singer Amy Winehouse made it centre of the fashion stage again.

The 70s

The blow-drier shaped every hair trend of this decade. Very few women went without the bold and sweeping effects of a blow-drier, irrespective of whether they wore their hair short or long.

Those who preferred a simpler style often opted for a less groomed look of naturally wavy hair. A particularly brave hair creation of the time was the short wedge cut, worn very short at the back of the neck and stepped and layered to create maximum movement and volume in the hair.

Styles of the 80s

The styles of the 80s were particularly extravagant.

The more adventurous fashionistas experimented with side ponytails, waves of crimped hair, tumbling creations that were half-up and half-down, and perms of every description – all styles designed to cause a stir. Worn with high-impact fashion statements like shoulder pads, neon colours and hot dance leggings, these hair designs were guaranteed to attract a lot of attention.

The 90s

Few decades have produced as many different and outrageous hairstyles as the 90s when creations such as tightly braided plaits, funky space buns and top-heavy mullets were all the rage.
